GS1 Nigeria will build its own GDSN data pool based on b-synced from BAYARD which will also provide advisory, onboarding and support services to efficiently implement product content exchange with GDSN in Nigeria

GS1 Nigeria has chosen BAYARD to support the establishment of the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) for the healthcare and FMCG sectors in its country. The GDSN enables the standardised industry-wide exchange of product content and consequently brings security, transparency and efficiency to trading partners and consumers.

Following an intense evaluation of existing GDSN data pool providers, GS1 Nigeria decided to build its own GDSN data pool based on b-synced, the certified exchange platform of Bayard Consulting Group. In a several step process, Bayard Consulting will also support GS1 Nigeria with advisory and onboarding services in establishing the GDSN in the country.

Bayard Consulting will initially work with GS1 Nigeria to support the onboarding, operation and maintenance of GDSN for GS1 Nigeria’s members. At a later stage, GS1 Nigeria will fully take over the management of GDSN for their members.

Tunde Odunlami, CEO of GS1 Nigeria, says: "We are very much looking forward to supporting the health care industry as well as the FMCG sector in our country with the many benefits that come with the industry-wide exchange of product content. With Bayard Consulting’s outstanding knowledge and experience in this field as well as with their excellent solutions, we will be able to establish GDSN promptly and reliably in Nigeria.”

Didier Mamet, Head of International Business Development at BAYARD, adds: “We are happy to help GS1 Nigeria establish the standardised product content exchange in their country based on the GDSN. By using our technologies and onboarding experts, GS1 Nigeria can start quickly, train staff through us and then take over the management of their own data pool step by step."
