Industry solution based on BAYARD's cloud-based platform BYRD boosts electronic purchasing- and logistics processes in the healthcare sector through standardisation and high product data quality – Jury honours collaborative approach with GS1 Healthcare Award 2022

Last week, the project partners of the Healthcare Content Data Portal HCDP were honoured with one of this year's two GS1 Healthcare Awards for significantly improving healthcare processes through synergies and standardisation.

A six-member jury of healthcare experts presents GS1 Germany's Healthcare Award to lighthouse projects in the healthcare sector that, thanks to collaborative approaches between medical care providers and their suppliers, lead to increased patient safety and more efficient processes. This year’s award was presented as part of the Healthcare Live industry event at Hannover’s regional hospital trust Klinikum Region Hannover.

BAYARD has been the technology partner of the HCDP purchasing groups’ initiative in Germany – Prospitalia, P.E.G., Sana Einkauf & Logistik, EKKplus and EK-UNICO – since the very beginning. In this role, BAYARD has significantly driven the digital transformation of the industry and helped establish data standardisation in the healthcare sector. This is significant, since up-to-date and high-quality product content is a prerequisite for the digitisation of countless processes in hospitals.

Before the HCDP was launched, highly fragmented and heterogeneous data sources repeatedly led to additional work for purchasing groups and hospitals in consolidating and streamlining product data. This put the brakes on digitisation efforts across the entire sector. Via the HCDP, purchasing processes can now be handled more efficiently and with better quality. In addition, up-to-date, high-quality product information forms the technological basis for clinical documentation, as well as the registration of incoming goods and ward supplies.

The joint data portal HCDP has established itself as an industry standard. Purchasing associations and hospitals, together with medical technology manufacturers and suppliers benefit in the same way from the availability of up-to-date, complete and valid product data that complies to uniform standards via the HCDP. Via the industry portal, partners can keep the effort of data provision as low as possible, focus on essential work and jointly drive forward the digitisation of the entire industry.
