The CEO of BAYARD is supporting the implementation, expansion and strategic development of global standardised product content management via GS1 GDSN.

GS1 Global Data Synchronisation Network (GS1 GDSN) is the world's largest product data network of the consumer goods industry and parts of the healthcare sector worldwide. Through standardisation and crosslinking of currently 50 data pools, it ensures that product content can be exchanged interoperably and industry-wide between manufacturers, marketers and retailers globally.

More than 63,000 companies worldwide use GS1 GDSN for product data synchronisation. Decisions on the strategic direction and further development of GDSN and its Global Registry are made by the Board of Directors of GS1 GDSN Inc.

Björn Bayard, CEO of BAYARD, has now been appointed to this board. "I am very pleased to be able to actively contribute to decades of product content synchronisation experience in the consumer goods and healthcare industries to the strategic further development of GS1 GDSN as the global framework for inter-industry data management," says Björn Bayard, CEO of Bayard Consulting Group.

Björn Bayard appointed to GS1 GDSN Inc.’s Board of Directors

He has been contributing to the development of GS1 GDSN since its inception. In 1997, Björn Bayard developed a product information management system with his former company Cataloom that became the basis for the subsequent SINFOS master data pool of the German consumer goods industry, of which Bayard was Director of Development. As Director, he also shaped the further development of the SINFOS successor SA2 Worldsync before founding the Bayard Consulting Group in 2011.

His consulting firm, which specialises in product content management, employs a large number of experts who also have decades of experience with GDSN. Since November 2017, Bayard Consulting Group has also been offering its own GDSN data pool with b-synced and enabling companies of all sizes to easily connect to the worldwide network of the GS1 community via its SyncManager solution.

The GS1 GDSN Board of Directors develops long-term strategies and plans for the future of GS1 GDSN and adopts action plans for the next two years. It is also responsible for enforcing the agreed rules with the data pools and their customers. The GS1 GDSN Board of Directors includes representatives from Carrefour, Nestlé, Ahold, PepsiCo, Procter&Gamble, Metro and Oetker.
